Becoming a mom changed my life. I know that sounds cliche' because becoming a mother is life changing for every mom. But my life really changed. I was a teenage girl from Youngstown, Ohio contemplating going to college at the University of Cincinnati. I found out that I was pregnant two weeks before classes were set to start. Of course this was a major blow for me. My mom was livid and the idea of going to college was eliminated. Well not in my mind, I figured that I could go to college and complete 2 quarters and return home to deliver my baby. My mom did not agree with this plan. She actually commented, "that is the dumbest plan I have ever heard." I decided to go against mom as usual, I purchased a bus ticket and came to Cincinnati and attended the University. I delivered my baby two days after returning home for Spring break. From that point on I told myself that I was going beat the odds and raise my daughter and give her a better life than the one I had as a child. One of my greatest wishes for her was to finish high school and go to college without being pregnant. Im very proud to say that she recently graduated from Walnut Hills High School and is a now a freshman at Kent State University without a baby!!!! That's a win for our family. She broke the cycle.
